LONDON – Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, one of the oldest dental organisations in the world, has made Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein’s dental and medical business in the UK and Ireland, an honorary member. In particular, Gambold was recognised for his efforts to advance global health in collaboration with the organisation.
Henry Schein has been a partner of the London Chapter of Alpha Omega, which supports educational and philanthropic initiatives around the world to enhance oral health, for more than ten years. For instance, the company supported the renovation of the Hebrew University—Hadassah School of Dental Medicine ’s clinic and helped build a dental education centre in the Middle East.
At the official ceremony last week, Gambold said: “Henry Schein and Alpha Omega share the belief that public–private partnerships that include health professional associations and industry play an essential role in addressing global health issues. We look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Alpha Omega for many years to come.”
Alpha Omega, which was originally founded by dental students to fight discrimination in dental schools in 1907, currently represents about 5,000 active dentists and dental students worldwide. The organisation has chapters and members in the US, Canada, South America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
