LONDON, UK: At the 2018 BDIA Dental Showcase, the oral healthcare division of global manufacturer 3M has highlighted Impregum Super Quick, the newest addition to its Impregum product line of polyether impression materials. The event runs until tomorrow at ExCeL London.
At a presentation on Thursday morning, 3M’s Scientific Affairs Manager Dr John Rafelt outlined how older generations of Impregum had a very long setting time, which was conducive to working with larger cases. With a setting time of just 2 minutes, however, Impregum Super Quick is designed to allow for faster impressions for less complex cases like single-unit crowns, implants, inlays and onlays, and smaller bridges of up to three units, according to 3M. It is suited for monophase and one-step impression techniques, the company said, and demonstrates great flow behaviour and excellent performance in moist situations.
“Impregum was launched in 1965 and is probably still the material of choice for most implant dentists,” said Rafelt. “As time’s gone on, 3M has improved the smell and the taste of Impregum—now, with Impregum Super Quick, we’ve improved the setting time as well. With a 45-second working time and 2-minute setting time, Impregum Super Quick is ideally designed for single-unit crowns and other everyday cases.”
The short time in the mouth of Impregum Super Quick combined with its fresh, minty taste is beneficial for patient comfort, 3M stated. In addition, Impregum Super Quick can be scanned with the current generation of digital scanners, enabling a more efficient and cooperative workflow with the dental laboratory.
