MADRID, Spain/TUUSULA, Finland: Last week, Finnish provider of imaging systems Instrumentarium Dental exhibited its products at EXPODENTAL in Madrid, one of the most important trade fairs in the dental industry in Europe. Among other devices, the company showcased ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH OP300, its comprehensive three-in-one platform for advanced panoramic imaging with cephalometric and cone beam 3-D options.

According to Instrumentarium Dental, ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH OP300 was designed and built as an expandable platform upgradeable with both 3-D and cephalometric options after the initial purchase. It can thus be adapted to various needs.

The platform features an innovative, revolutionary multilayer panoramic option based on the latest complementary metal-oxide semiconductor sensor technology. It offers five panoramic imaging layers with only one scan, which can compensate for patient positioning errors and thus reduce radiation exposure through several retakes. A 10 in. touchscreen with an intuitive user interface enables fast and effortless workflow for all imaging modalities, the company stated.

Moreover, the OP300 cone beam 3-D option offers two fields of view (FOV) of different sizes with selectable resolution optimised for local diagnostics and for the complete dental arch for multiple implant placement and operations using surgical guides. Two FOVs, combined with an integrated motorised chin rest, enable free FOV positioning within the maxillofacial area and ensure multiple modalities. Precise patient positioning is guaranteed with SMARTVIEW, a two-directional scout image before the 3-D examination.

In addition, the platform comprises features such as the metal artifact reduction tool and endo mode with 85 μm voxel size for the most challenging diagnostic tasks.

From 24 to 26 April, Instrumentarium Dental will be exhibiting at the 2014 ITI World Symposium in Geneva in Switzerland, a congress organised by the International Team for Implantology (ITI).
