LONDON, UK: With only hours left before the doors of the ExCeL London Exhibition and Convention Centre open for this year’s BDIA Dental Showcase, members of all dental professions in the UK have already started to flock to the British capital for three days of innovation and learning. Over 350 dental companies and distributors are participating in the industry event, which will run from tomorrow to Saturday here in east London.

When asked about the prospects for the next three days, the British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) told Dental Tribune on Monday that it is delighted with this year’s registration figures, which compare to the figure of 12,000 visitors for the previous show, held in Birmingham in October 2013. This year promises to be even bigger and better with some of the biggest market players showcasing their portfolio of innovative products and solutions for all things dentistry in the UK. Some of them will be available to dental professionals for the first time, such as the new line of restorative products from GCP Dental, which boasts Glass Carbomer Tech for reliable and well-fitting dental restorations.

Richard Whatley, Sales Manager Consumables at Plandent, the company distributing the promising technology exclusively in the UK and Ireland, said: “Every year, Dental Showcase is the highlight of the calendar where we can present our latest developments face to face with our customers. This year is no exception with many new digital technology products from Planmeca, including innovative new materials management and ordering systems for increased practice efficiency. We look forward to a well-attended exhibition and to presenting the benefits these innovations can bring to visitors at our stand.”

Companies will also be presenting their complete portfolio of dental products for dental practices and laboratories. Henry Schein, for example, will have its whole range of dental equipment on display, including consumables and decontamination products, advanced digital technology, and servicing and practice software.

“We will be showcasing the latest digital technology with innovations in digital imaging, surgical products and implantology, CAD/CAM solutions and laboratory products. Our aim is to support dental teams with everything they need to run a successful and profitable practice,” said Simon Gambold, Managing Director of Henry Schein Dental UK.

Along with the industry showcase, over 100 mini-lectures will be held over all three days, including product presentations and papers on clinical issues by nationally distinguished experts. By attending these lectures, visitors will be entitled to continuing professional development certification.

Instructions on how to obtain the certificates are provided on the show's website, the BDIA said.

Visitors who have not registered in advance can gain admission for the small fee of £10. Daily news and updates from the show will be available online at the Dental Tribune UK website and through the daily Dental Tribune UK newsletter. To sign up, please click here.
