WINCHESTER, UK: Brush-Baby, a UK-based specialist in children’s dental health care products, has announced the launch of BABYSONIC, the smallest electric toothbrush available on the market worldwide. It is significantly smaller than regular electric toothbrushes for children and can be used on a baby’s gums from the day it is born.
According to Brush-Baby, the brush was specifically designed for infants and toddlers because many parents feel that conventional toothbrushes are too large. Its soft-bristled brush head is no bigger than the nail of a little finger. The company recommends using the toothbrush for children aged 0–3 years.
“The BABYSONIC really is a first in infant and toddler dental care. Its design and size distinguish it from anything else currently available on the market and the fact that its head vibrates and does not spin like a conventional toothbrush makes it gentle and pleasurable for a baby,” explained Dominique Tillen, the company’s founder. “The response to this product from parents and retailers has been overwhelming,” she said.
The toothbrush, which weights 36 g, can be purchased from the company’s online shop or one of the major retailers in the UK, such as Boots, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Mothercare, at the recommended retail price of £8.99 (€10.50). A AAA battery and one additional brush head are included in the pack.
Recently, MailOnline, the website of the Daily Mail, reported that nearly half of children in England have rotting teeth or are at serious risk of tooth decay owing to sugary drinks, snacks between meals and irregular dental check-ups. Given these numbers, the company hopes to help parents establish a dental care regime for their infants at a very early age already.
