GLASGOW, UK: Registration is now open for the 2019 British Orthodontic Conference (BOC), the biggest meeting on the British orthodontic calendar, and this year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the British Orthodontic Society. The conference will be held at the Scottish Event Campus Centre in Glasgow from 19 to 21 September.

Since this year’s theme is “Looking ahead”, the 2019 BOC will aim to keep attendees up to date with the latest scientific research that is set to underpin the future of orthodontic practice. A diverse line-up of internationally renowned speakers, including Drs S. Jay Bowman, Magali Mujagic and David Birnie, will be presenting, and the American academic and orthodontist Prof. Greg Huang, Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington, will deliver the prestigious Northcroft Memorial Lecture.

Another highlight of the 2019 BOC programme will be the return of the OrthoTED session, a series of 15-minute presentations inspired by the popular online TED Talks. The OrthoTED session debuted at the 2018 BOC, and it received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The ever-popular BOC social programme also promises to impress, with the 2019 gala to be held at the Glasgow Science Centre. The Glasgow Crowne Plaza hotel will be hosting the exclusive banquet and there will be plenty of opportunities for those wishing to see the sights and heritage of Scotland’s biggest city, as bicycle hire and city tours have been arranged for this purpose.

“In my first year as chair, I am delighted to welcome a host of renowned international and UK speakers,” said Dr David Waring, Chairman of the BOC. “We have a pre-conference course on the psychology of orthodontics and decision-making, two additional parallel sessions, a DCP [dental care professionals] programme and excellent social events for which the BOC has become famous. We feel that we have something for everyone at this year’s conference and we look forward to welcoming you all.”

Dental professionals interested in attending the 2019 BOC can view the programme and register for the event here. An early bird special is available for all bookings made before 30 June.
