LEICESTER – As reported by the Leicester Mercury online, a prisoner has tried to smuggle drugs into a British prison using a line of dental floss. The newspaper stated that the 25-year-old man had attempted to throw the dental floss like a rope from his cell window over the prison wall.

According to the Leicester Mercury, the prisoner made four attempts, while his accomplice, a 44-year-old male drug addict, waited on the other side of the prison wall to attach a supply of cannabis (29.5 g) and a mobile phone to the line of dental floss.

However, the criminals did not succeed, as the event was caught on a security camera. The newspaper reported that the inmate failed to swing the floss far enough to reach 20 m to his right, to get it over the prison wall.

Last week, both pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle a Class B drug into the prison. While the inmate, who had originally received a sentence of 30 months for attempting to smuggle cannabis to an inmate he was visiting at another prison, was sentenced to another 27 months, his accomplice, who had played a lesser role in the conspiracy, was sentenced to 4 months.
