LONDON & WIGSTON, UK: Last week brought record temperatures for much of the UK and the rest of Europe. The first of July was even the hottest ever recorded in the country. Similar to most other workplaces, dental practices should carry out a thermal comfort risk assessment during heat waves to ensure that they and their staff do not suffer from any heat-related stress, according to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health in Wigston.
While air temperature is the commonly used indicator for terminal comfort, the organisation told Dental Tribune Online, dentists should also take environmental factors like huminity or radiant temperature such as heat emitted from dental equipment into account. These are some of the measures to undertake to prevent you and your staff from any heat damage.
