PRAGUE, Czech Republic: The 2020 event had been postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and was held as a virtual meeting in 2021. Now, the organisers of ROOTS SUMMIT are thrilled to host the endodontics meeting as an in-person event from 26 to 29 May at Cubex Centre Prague. Registration is open, and participants can expect an exceptional scientific programme and a great deal of fun.
“Now more than ever the world needs more of what ROOTS SUMMIT represents and is: a multinational forum of concerned professionals interested in learning about the relief of pain and healing of infection in patients, in sharing cases and in scientific discovery,” ROOTS SUMMIT Co-Chairman Stephen Jones told Dental Tribune International (DTI).
He added: “After a two-year delay owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are excited to be making preparations for May.”
Participants can look forward to a colourful and sophisticated programme with an entire day of hands-on courses and three days of lectures, abstract and poster presentations, and social activities. In addition, 40 exhibitors will have their endodontic solutions on display for attendees to try out.
Among the speakers are enthusiastic experts such as Drs Jenner Argueta (Guatemala), Gianluca Plotino (Italy), Stephen Buchanan (US), Daniel Černý (Czech Republic), Roberto Cristian Cristescu (Romania) and Catherine Ricci (France). In their practical workshops and lectures, they will discuss minimally invasive endodontics, the management of complex clinical cases with the support of 3D magnification, endodontic microsurgery, how to decide whether large lesions should be treated endodontically or surgically, and much more.

Having only opened in 2018, Cubex Centre Prague is a very modern complex and is equipped with the latest technology. Jones commented: “It is a beautiful facility with multiple video screens available throughout. Our poster presentations will be shown on these screens during the breaks. Several of our speakers came to the forefront with their case presentations in previous meetings. These end-of-the-day sessions on Friday and Saturday are not to be missed.”
ROOTS SUMMIT is also a social affair. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with their peers, speakers and exhibitors during the welcome reception on Friday night and the SUMMIT Party on Saturday night, when the ROOTs family will enjoy time together after not being able to see each other for so long.
In addition to these highlights, the event offers participants a stay in a historic European capital with a myriad of tourist attractions. “Prague is a beautiful city that is a top tourism site already, and May is the best time of the year here with everything in bloom!” said ROOTS speaker Dr Černý in an interview with DTI.
When asked to give three reasons why everyone interested or involved in endodontics should come to this year’s ROOTS SUMMIT, speaker Dr Plotino replied: “It’s one of the most important endodontic events of the year, one of the first to take place as an in-person event after a long time, and it has a great scientific, cultural and social offering. It is not to be missed!”
In response to being asked in an interview which three main characteristics he associates with the event, speaker Dr Buchanan replied: “stimulating, good return on investment and serious fun”.
Looking back at the beginning
ROOTS SUMMIT originally started as a mailing list of a group of endodontic enthusiasts in the late 1990s. After the creation of a dedicated Facebook group, the number of members constantly increased and currently includes nearly 30,000 clinicians from 100 countries. Today, ROOTS SUMMMIT is a global discussion forum for endodontics.
Coronavirus measures
In order to travel to Prague, participants are advised to carry a valid certificate of their SARS-CoV-2 vaccination or recovery. Currently, all visitors must fill in a passenger locator form. The organisers advise all participants to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation prior to their visit, as updates are to be expected. ROOTS SUMMIT will comply with the regulations that the Czech government has in place at the time of the event.
Participants can earn continuing education credits for the lectures and for attendance of the hands-on courses. More information on the programme, travel, accommodation, etc. can be found on the ROOTS SUMMIT website. News will also be posted regularly on the event’s Facebook page.
