BIRMINGHAM, UK: Set to take place on 17 and 18 May at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show will offer attendees numerous educational and training opportunities, as well as a platform for dialogue between the industry and professionals. The show will aim at building upon the success of last year’s inaugural edition, which saw a record-breaking turnout of over 13,000 visitors and hundreds of companies in attendance.

The show, for which there is no attendance fee, is the largest and most comprehensive dental event in the UK and is the result of collaboration between the British Dental Association (BDA), the UK’s trade union and professional body for dental professionals, and CloserStill Media. The BDA Theatre, which features discussions guided by some of dentistry’s leading thinkers and innovators, is set to be a highlight of this year’s show, as it has been specifically designed by dentists to provide information and advice for the whole dental team.

Other highlights of this year’s programme include the Next Generation Conference, which allows younger dentists to gain a first-hand glimpse of aspects of dentistry that are not traditionally covered at dental school. Young dental professionals planning to buy their first practice or attract new customers through digital media will be sure to find something interesting at this conference.

On the clinical side of things, the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s Aesthetic and Digital Dentist Theatre will feature a number of hand-picked specialists who will guide attendees through key aesthetic topics and discuss how they relate to the modern dental practice. The Short-Term Ortho Lounge sessions will see such speakers as Dr Jaswinder Gill, principal dentist of Moonlight Dental Surgery and clinical instructor for Six Month Smiles, discuss how general dental practitioners can position themselves to be able to offer these orthodontic solutions with confidence.

“Short-term ortho brought a lot of enjoyment back into dentistry for me,” said Gill. “It is easier than people think and it’s the most fun and most rewarding dentistry that I do—you can really change patients’ lives.”
