LONDON, UK. It has been another busing three days for BA International at the BDIA Dental Showcase in London. For years, the Northampton company has been offering same days repairs at the show. This year, many visitors again took advantage of this unique service and the opportunity to meet the faces behind Britains largest dental repair shop at booth G30.

“While we have been offering repairs for many years at the show, dentists are increasingly bringing their handpieces in to have them repaired on the same day. This way, it doesn’t interrupt their surgery time in a significant way,” BA International General Manager Jason Knight explained to Dental Tribune.

The volume of repairs brought in during the show has been constant over the years, according to Knight. The on-site technician, who is fully original equipment manufacturer-accredited, largely deals with defective bearings and cartridges. BA uses parts that are certified and approved by all major manufacturers, including KaVo, W&H, NSK, Sirona, Bien-Air, 3M ESPE, Elma, SciCan, Henry Schein, MICRO-MEGA and EMS. If a repair cannot be done on the same day, the company offers a cost-effective replacement with one of its own quality handpieces.

The same-day repair additionally provides the benefit of meeting existing and new customers. “It is nice for them to meet the people behind the scenes,” said Knight. “It has been a good meeting in this regard.”

For almost 25 years, BA has been at the forefront of the handpiece repair business, providing repair and sales services to dental clinicians all over the UK. According to BA, no other company can provide dentists with the full-service peace of mind that it offers. Its ISO 9001 certificate ensures that it has quality management systems in place to meet exacting industry standards and to continually develop and improve its services. To this day, it continues to work with dentists throughout the UK to surpass expectations of what a repair company can offer in terms of quality and competitive pricing.

How does the company do it without being just a yellow repair bag?
Dentists send in their handpieces using the free industry-recognised prepaid repair bag. BA returns them in protective reusable and autoclavable BA Steriboxes to ensure that the handpieces arrive safe and sound. In addition to handpieces, BA can repair a huge array of small equipment devices, such as amalgamators, ultrasonic baths, DAC and SciCan STATIM autoclaves, curing lights and endodontic units. For this, the company creates custom-made, insured boxes using foam moulding technology to protect the equipment during transit to ensure that it arrives safely. Once clients receive their items, they can keep the custom boxes for the future, thus saving them further possible costs.

After a concise initial examination of the handpieces and equipment, BA offers a free quotation on all repairs in order to allow clients to make an informed decision on whether it would be beneficial to repair their current handpiece or be better to invest in a new one from among the company’s own state-of-the-art handpieces. The company offers steel and ceramic bearing replacements, as well as cartridge replacements, for all makes and models. In addition, they provide world-leading high-quality BA parts, as well as original equipment manufacturer spares.

For all repairs, BA includes a full strip, clean and service to ensure the handpiece is like new. Furthermore, it carries out specific tests at its repair facility during the servicing process, such as chuck retention, speed and concentricity tests, as well as checks on the water system, chip air and air exhaust, to ensure that the handpiece is in full working order. With an extensive range of spare parts in stock, the company can offer same-day turnaround on most handpiece repairs, where applicable.

BA offers free preventative maintenance advice over the phone upon request to help reduce handpiece overheads and repair expenses and maximise chair time utilisation. Furthermore, it provides advice on servicing, maintenance, regulations and recommended uses for handpieces and dental equipment. Working with leading manufacturers, BA gives guidance on reprocessing and adhering to the HTM 01-05 guidelines in the most cost-effective and time-efficient ways. The company provides after-sales services on repairs and purchases, as well as consumables. Furthermore, its staff can advise customers on the best product for their clinical needs if they have specific requirements regarding a handpiece or an item of small equipment.

As it is an approved DAC service centre, BA offers validation and servicing for the DAC UNIVERSAL. Its loan service ensures that while their autoclave is with the company, customers are not left without one, thereby avoiding disruption of their daily operations. The loan service applies to many other items too to help customers when they need it most. BA works with dentists to ensure that they experience as little interruption in their clinical work as possible, thus ensuring the best patient care.

It is evident that BA is far more than just a yellow bag. It offers a comprehensive range of services at the best price in the industry, guaranteeing that it will beat a better price. So why not call its technical service department to repair your faulty device?
