MANCHESTER, UK: Hundreds of patients of a recently closed dental clinic in Manchester have reported being left with outstanding treatment and thousands of pounds out of pocket. Pure Clinic, which also had a sister practice in London, ceased operations without notice early this year.
Many of the clinic’s patients have said they have not received treatment paid for. According to the Manchester Evening News, one frustrated patient claimed to have already paid £15,000, but has still not been treated.
While the clinic owner told the Mancunian newspaper that he is currently in dispute with another clinic in the city over the liability of refunds, he admitted that his company could possibly face liquidation.
Dental Tribune could not get through to the clinic for a statement on Tuesday.
It seems that patients have had misgivings regarding treatment at the clinic for some time. On a recently established Facebook page, feedback from numerous Pure Clinic customers indicates that treatment was rather inconsistent and often performed by different practitioners even over a short period.
Even worse, patients have had to wait for months to have their money returned for delayed or unperformed treatment.
“They are really badly organised. In the waiting room I listen to the receptionists take complaint calls over and over again with people asking for refunds,” said a customer relating her experiences. “They also have a constant turnover of dentists."
Another one said: "I have seen another dentist as well as an orthodontist who were both shocked at the state of my teeth. The Ortho quoted £4,000 and 18 months of braces to get it right but since my teeth were filed down so much by the dentist at Pure Clinic I would need veneers or fillings afterwards. A quote from the dentist for veneers was £11,000."
Also known as Manchester Smiles, Pure Clinic has been offering offering a variety of cosmetic procedures including Six Months Smiles treatment.
