LEEDS, UK: Two practitioners from Yorkshire have been awarded dentists of the year by Genix Healthcare. Rana Alsalem from Huddersfield and Bart Goralczyk from Kiveton Park near Sheffield received the honours at the group’s annual conference last week at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
Awards were also given in other categories, including practice manager and dental nurse. The Genix clinic in Edinburgh, established in 2012, won the award for best practice this year.
The group regularly recognises outstanding contributions of its members at its annual conference. This year’s event in Leeds, which saw special appearances by Nosheena Mobarik, CBE, and Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Bolton Prof. George E. Holmes, DL, brought together 250 attendees from the UK and abroad. In addition to celebrating the group’s achievements, there were a number of team-building activities and interesting clinical presentations from leading experts across the UK, covering the benefits of social media, understanding periodontitis and dealing with NHS claims, among various topics.
Clinical Director at Genix Healthcare and Professor of Primary Dental Care and Advanced General Dental Practice at King’s College London Stephen Dunne led the programme. The event was sponsored by a number of suppliers and industry competitors, including Wright Cottrell, Cougar, PerioChip, BlueFin, Ivoclar Vivadent, Cannon and John Winter, which presented their latest innovations for dental practices and laboratories.
Providing NHS and private dentistry services to patients since 2006, the Genix Healthcare group currently maintains member practices in over 20 cities across England and Scotland. Earlier this year, it won Medium Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards for its Trailblazer apprenticeship programme, ahead of 1,200 other businesses.
It was also ranked in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list in the UK.
