LONDON – The use of amalgam for posterior restorations has declined considerably in the last two decades. However, applying aesthetic direct composite posterior restorations is an alternative that is both more time-consuming and expensive. In a free webinar, presented by the Dental Tribune Study Club, dental surgeon Irfan Ahmad discusses a revolutionary bulk-fill resin that can be applied in just one step.

SonicFill (Kerr Corp.) is a revolutionary bulk-fill resin, or deep resin composite, with a fluctuating viscosity activated by the application of sonic energy. In the webinar, the rationale for the system is explained, together with the concerns and benefits in clinical practice, and case studies are presented. Deep resins are primarily indicated for direct composite tooth-coloured fillings in posterior teeth, but the unique varying viscosity of SonicFill offers other useful clinical applications.

The webinar, titled “Deep resins, white fillings: A new technique for composite restorations”, will be broadcast on Wednesday, 17 October, 6.30 p.m., and run for about 60 minutes. Participants who complete an online multiple-choice questionnaire based on the topic of the presentation after the webinar and answer 60 per cent of the questions correctly will be awarded one CPD credit. The webinar can be viewed via Adobe Flash Player, which is commonly installed on most computers.

Participants can register for the free webinar on the DT Study Club website.
