Align Technology is hailing unprecedented early interest in its recently introduced aesthetic tooth straightening product designed specifically for general dental practitioners. Since its launch in early September, there have been a significant number of requests to attend special courses for providers new to Invisalign, and the first one has already taken place, underlining the demand for this training. This is because the new, simplified approach to tooth alignment takes GDPs through identifying, planning and monitoring aesthetic cases, enabling them to use Invisalign to treat patients confidently right from the start.

Invisalign Go is suitable for simple aesthetic treatments of the anterior teeth (first premolar to first premolar). To ensure the right cases are treated by the right GDPs, new case assessment software ensures that patient selection is safe and straightforward. After uploading intra-oral images of their patient to Align Technology’s proprietary system, GDPs will receive an evaluation of the case’s suitability for Invisalign Go. Excitingly, Align Technology has partnered with UK-based Aligner Consulting to give Invisalign Go providers personal feedback and support on the software result. This offers an invaluable educational tool to help providers assess cases themselves even before submitting them and understand the cases they are able to treat within their scope of practice.

If the case is deemed too complex for Invisalign Go, a digitally aided referral process is initiated that allows the GDP to transfer all patient records to an Invisalign provider who has been fully trained on the comprehensive Invisalign portfolio. As well as ensuring every patient receives the right treatment, this means the dentist is able to build stronger working relationships with the local specialists to whom they refer.

Every GDP who signs up to Invisalign Go will undergo a thorough and stimulating training programme, which consists of an online component, followed by an in-person training day with hands-on sessions to provide a thorough understanding of how Invisalign Go works. Align Technology has ensured high demand can be met by holding multiple training courses across the UK—and the course cost is only £450.

Furthermore, the company has developed a comprehensive continuing professional development programme to ensure that each new provider has sustained support throughout his or her early experience with Invisalign Go. Providers are encouraged to join Aligner Consulting’s free online community to obtain expert training, coaching, mentoring and ongoing support for those new to the Invisalign system.

The cost of an Invisalign Go single-arch treatment is £655, while a dual-arch treatment is £875. With a fixed laboratory fee, there are no hidden costs, and any additional aligners required to reach the original treatment goal are included at no extra charge.
