SHENLEY, UK: Last week, the public learned that a British national had died of COVID-19 on 11 March 2020 in Bali in Indonesia. Shortly afterwards, it became known that the deceased person was Kimberly Finlayson, co-founder of Finlayson Media Communications (FMC), the UK’s biggest independent dental publisher.
The Daily Mail reported online that the Indonesian government had stated that Finlayson had tested positive for COVID-19 during a holiday trip and was then admitted to an Indonesian hospital in late February. Finlayson was already suffering from lung disease and diabetes before the diagnosis.
Her husband, Ken Finlayson, managing director at FMC, who was with her, has reportedly tested negative for the virus. However, he is expected to remain in hospital isolation in Bali, according to the Daily Mail.
Founded in 1995 by the Finlayson couple and Jason Newington, FMC today is the leading communications company operating in the UK and Ireland dental industry. In an online article also published last week, the company paid tribute to Kimberly Finlayson, remembering her work for more than 30 years as a publisher in the dental industry.
Reuters stated that Finlayson’s was the first death from COVID-19 in Indonesia. To date, 172 COVID-19 cases and eight deaths have been confirmed in the country.
