BIRMINGHAM, UK: The organiser of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show (BDCDS) as well as the Dental Technology Showcase (DTS) has decided to move both events to 2021. The decision was made in light of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic which is still heavily affecting the UK.
BDCDS and DTS will both now take place on Friday and Saturday, 21 and 22 May 2021, in Hall 5 of the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre.
Martin Woodrow, chief executive of the British Dental Association, commented: “It’s a real shame that we can’t hold what would have been an excellent conference and exhibition this year, but in the circumstances, postponing the 2020 event has to be the right thing to do and I’m sure the 2021 event will be bigger and better than ever.”
In the meantime, the event organiser, CloserStill Media, will be focusing on how it can support members of the dental profession as they prepare to return to their practices and a measure of normality during a very testing time for dentistry. Event Director Alex Harden commented: “In difficult times like the one that affects us today across the globe, it is important to remember the primary objective of trade shows: a trade show is above all the opportunity for the market to meet, learn and collaborate together. The safety of our communities is of paramount importance.”
Steven Campbell, president of the Dental Laboratories Association, added: “Given the current situation, the DLA believe moving the show to May 2021 is the right thing to do and we support that decision, and really look forward to what will be a fantastic event for all involved.”
BDCDS is the UK’s leading exhibition and conference for dental professionals, offering clinical, leadership and practical training via an extensive educational programme, including hands-on workshops. It is the UK’s largest event of its kind, attracting over 9,000 attendees and over 400 exhibitors. At DTS, laboratory owners and dental technicians will find dedicated education, products and suppliers focused on driving future growth for the profession, the laboratory and the UK industry.
