CHARLOTTE, N.C., US: With a heritage of more than 150 years in dentistry, Dentsply Sirona is highlighting trust as a central theme in its endodontic portfolio, emphasising evidence-based development, rigorous quality controls and a record of technological firsts. According to the company, its endodontic facilities in Germany, Switzerland and the US now produce more than 140 million instruments each year, supporting over 35 million endodontic procedures worldwide.
Trust rooted in evidence-based endo
Dentsply Sirona reports that its endodontic treatment solutions are underpinned by extensive scientific validation. Since their introduction, the company’s reciprocating endodontic files have been the subject of 1,228 published articles: 578 related to the WaveOne family and 650 covering the Reciproc family. This evidence base is presented as a foundation for confidence in the effectiveness and reliability of the treatment solutions.
Dr Ghassan Yared, inventor of the Reciproc single-file reciprocation concept, highlighted the importance of scientific backing in product development: “Innovation in endodontics must always be supported by rigorous scientific evidence. This is the foundation of trust. The extensive research and clinical validation behind Dentsply Sirona’s solutions helps to ensure reliable outcomes and advances the standard of patient care.”

Trust built through dedication to quality
Quality assurance is described by Dentsply Sirona as central to every stage of manufacturing. With production sites in Germany, Switzerland and the US—each with a long history of developing endodontic innovations—the company meets global standards certified by leading regulatory bodies and produces more than 140 million endodontic instruments annually. These products are used in over 35 million procedures each year.
Across these facilities, Dentsply Sirona states that more than 3 million individual quality measurements are carried out each year to help ensure precision, reliability and safety for every instrument produced.
Trust born from pioneering innovation
The company attributes its position in endodontics to an ongoing spirit of innovation, aiming to simplify clinical procedures while expanding treatment options. Dentsply Sirona notes that it has introduced several industry firsts, including variable tapered files, carrier-based obturators, reciprocation techniques, the off-centring concept and heat-treated files.
The company also stands out by designing and manufacturing both its own endodontic motors and consumables, with the components intended to integrate into coordinated workflows.
“Trust is the cornerstone of everything we do at Dentsply Sirona,” said Oliver Elsner, vice president of research and development for Essential Dental Solutions at Dentsply Sirona. “Clinicians and patients rely on us to deliver endodontic solutions that they trust to use on their patients every day. That is why we even design our own machines to produce our endodontic instruments—this way we have total control over quality and precision.”
