Biofilm formation around implants is the main aetiology of peri-implant inflammation. In a free webinar on Tuesday, 21 April, dentist Dr Viktoriia Gabal will discuss how dentists can prevent peri-implant disease by using the correct tools and techniques.
Every 12 hours, biofilm forms on all surfaces in the oral cavity, including ceramic crowns, zirconia abutments and the titanium oxide of dental implants. Biofilm plays a major role in the development of peri-implant diseases, including peri‐implant mucositis—an inflammatory lesion of the peri-implant mucosa—and peri-implantitis, which also includes loss of supporting bone that can lead to implant failure if it is not treated. Gabal’s webinar will discuss patient motivation and how the effective management of biofilm formation around dental implants with the correct tools and techniques at home can prevent peri-implant disease.
