SHEERNESS – Last week, Henry Schein UK, an affiliate of Henry Schein, one of the world’s largest providers of dental care products and services, announced that it has joined an oral health programme that educates primary schoolchildren on the importance of oral hygiene. The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with consumer products company Colgate UK.

The Helping Kids Smile programme was launched in October last year at West Minster Primary School in Sheerness in the UK. During oral health education sessions, children at the school are instructed by a teacher on proper oral health practices, such as using particular brushing techniques and eating healthily. In addition, the initiative provides free dental health assessments through local dental practitioners every six months over two years to track progress.

As part of the programme, Henry Schein UK and Colgate UK have donated toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental educational materials to the school’s students.

“Since then, the children have been brushing daily and learning lessons in the classroom that will help them form lifelong good oral health habits,” said Simon Gambold, Managing Director of Henry Schein Dental UK. “We look forward to expanding this programme across the UK in the future as part of a larger Helping Kids Smile effort,” he stated.
