LONDON, UK: An increasing number of women have entered the UK dental workforce in recent years. On International Women’s Day today, the British Dental Association (BDA) is hosting a live question-and-answer session to discuss the changing face of the profession and offer perspectives for the future. Dentists are being invited to sign up to participate.
The live event will start at 6 p.m. GMT on the BDA Facebook page and be led by Ruth Doherty, Senior Managing Editor of the British Dental Journal. She will be joined by BDA adviser Juliet Mellor and four female dentists from around the country, who will discuss topics like how to further one’s career and how to gain and make use of one’s confidence and skills. Participants will have the opportunity to direct questions to the panel.
“The number of female dentists in the UK has almost reached 50 per cent, but we know that this balance is not yet reflected at all levels and that there is still a way to go on representation at a local and national level,” Doherty said. “This International Women’s Day we will explore possible reasons behind this and also discuss how to maximise opportunities so that all dentists can make full use of their skills, expertise and potential.”
To participate in the chat, dentists can sign up at www.bda.org/womenindentistry.
