THAME, UK: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has been voted as having the best female celebrity smile. David Beckham and George Clooney share the top position for best male smile. The poll, commissioned by Wrigley to celebrate National Smile Month, also found that 51 per cent of the women and 60 per cent of the men surveyed find a smile the most attractive trait in a partner when they meet for the first time.
An appealing smile clearly seems to be important, but many are dissatisfied with their smile. “Unfortunately, there are still many people who are unhappy with their smiles, often caused by poor oral hygiene over the years,” Dr Nigel Carter, OBE, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation. “Poor oral health can be both physically painful and psychologically damaging. It can affect self-confidence, image and even how people are perceived by other people.”
“National Smile Month is an important reminder to everyone in the UK about their oral health and is the ideal time to review your day-to-day routine and make sure you're not putting your smile at risk. It is really important to get the basics right at home. We recommend brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, cutting down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks, and visiting your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend. Adopting this good oral health routine can make a huge difference to a confident smile, as well as bringing many other positive aspects to everyday life.”
