Exploring the relationship between mind and body in apical periodontitis
The 2026 Spring Scientific Meeting of the British Endodontic Society will take place on 21 March at the Royal College of Physicians. Under the theme “Apical periodontitis: the psyche and the soma. The relationship between the mind and the body”, the one-day meeting will examine the interplay between systemic health, psychological factors and endodontic disease. The programme offers five hours of verifiable continuing professional development.
Guest speakers include Elisabetta Cotti and Neha Patel. Cotti’s lectures will address the bidirectional relationship between apical periodontitis and systemic conditions, as well as the role of immunology and immune modulators in disease progression and healing. Patel will explore clinical decision-making in complex cases and consider broader perspectives on pain, equity and professional responsibility in endodontic care.
In addition to the scientific sessions, a trade exhibition will showcase current materials, technologies and services in endodontics. The meeting is open to members and non-members, and concludes with a networking reception hosted by the society’s Early Careers Group, offering opportunities for professional exchange within the UK endodontic community.
