The Straumann Campus is continuing to provide dental professionals with free and flexible online education options. This is especially important since congresses and seminars have not been possible in recent months owing to the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2. In the coming weeks, the education platform will enable dental professionals to enhance their knowledge of full-arch implant restoration, BLX implants and immediate implant placement, as well as indications for removable dentures.

The first webinar will be presented by Dr Anthony Deliberato, who maintains a private practice in Westlake in Ohio in the US, specialising in fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics. In his webinar, he will review the digital protocols developed in order to use Straumann’s Smile in a Box treatment planning and manufacturing service to simplify the surgical and restorative procedures necessary to deliver full-arch restorations. Deliberato will discuss how dental professionals can identify patients who would benefit from an immediate full-arch implant-supported restoration and will demonstrate a protocol that employs a surgical guide to place implants and deliver full-arch protheses on the day of surgery.

Deliberato’s webinar, titled “Improving full-arch implant outcomes with outsourced treatment planning and guide design”, will be broadcast live on Thursday, 21 May, at 1 a.m. CEST.

BLX in challenging clinical situations

According to Dr Sergio Piano, BLX implants represent the best option for immediate implant placement and immediate loading. Thanks to computer-guided surgery, these procedures are being further advanced in terms of precision, predictability and high-quality outcomes, especially with regard to favourable aesthetic results. Piano, a dental surgeon and prosthodontist who heads a private practice in Genoa in Italy, will demonstrate the value of computer-guided implantology for the success of implant-supported rehabilitation. In addition, dental professionals will learn about the importance of BLX implants in improving insertion torque and implant stability and how BLX implants can be placed with a fully guided approach and immediately loaded, even in challenging clinical situations.

The webinar, titled “BLX implants with a fully guided approach”, will be broadcast live on Wednesday, 3 June, at 5 p.m. CEST.

Aesthetics and function: Advantages and disadvantages of removable dentures

Removable dentures have a long-standing record as prosthodontic solutions to tooth loss. In this webinar, Dr Charlotte Stilwell, president-elect of the International Team for Implantology, will discuss indications for removable dentures, including aesthetic and functional advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, she will describe general design principles for partial and complete dentures. Viewers will learn indications for the strategic use of implants in combination with removable dentures.

Dental professionals can watch the webinar, titled “Always fixed?—removable alternatives for edentulous patients”, live on Thursday, 11 June, at 4 p.m. CEST.

Attendance of all webinars is free of charge after easy online registration on the Straumann Campus. Participants will be able to ask questions via a chat window and have the opportunity to earn a continuing education credit for each webinar by completing a multiple-choice questionnaire on the topic.
