KRIENS, Switzerland: A proper mouthrinse at the proper time can go a long way towards protecting your patient’s oral and overall health. Perio plus regenerate is a mouthwash that will help you do just that, in five different ways.
Thanks to its composition, Perio plus regenerate has five distinct patient benefits:
protection against and elimination of harmful bacteria;
prevention of bad breath;
enhanced mucosa regeneration;
tooth strengthening and protection from dental caries; and
protection of the teeth, gingivae and oral mucosa.

Protection against and elimination of harmful bacteria and prevention of bad breath
The two key components of Perio plus regenerate are chlorhexidine and Citrox.
Chlorhexidine digluconate (0.09%) has been used in dentistry for over 70 years and is very efficient in eliminating harmful bacteria, a factor which is critical, especially after surgery and other procedures.
Citrox is a much newer ingredient based on natural bioflavonoids. Derived from bitter oranges, it is very effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi alike. In Perio plus regenerate, Citrox is further combined with polylysine amino acids to create the Citrox/P formula. As a result, it creates a protective layer on the teeth, gingivae and oral mucosa.
Enhanced mucosa regeneration
Hyaluronic acid is also part of the Perio plus regenerate formula. Thanks to its water-binding properties, it humidifies the oral mucosa, accelerating regrowth of cells—hence the name “regenerate”. What is more, the acid protects the regenerating mucosa by creating a protective layer over it. This further supports regeneration, minimising opportunities for infection and other complications.
Stronger teeth and protection from caries
Xylitol not only lends Perio plus regenerate its pleasant taste without spiking blood sugar or insulin, it also helps keep the teeth healthy and protects them from caries. This is because oral bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans will ingest xylitol in a similar way to glucose, but cannot use it for fuel. Ingesting it leads to further inability to take up glucose, resulting in the bacteria dying.
Teeth, gingivae and oral mucosa protection
Perio plus regenerate is unique in the combined action of several of its ingredients: hyaluronic acid combines with polymers to create a protective layer, while chlorhexidine binds to the mucosa and teeth, helping fight bacteria. All of this helps to keep the mucosa protected, reducing the risk of viral or bacterial infection.
When should you use or recommend Perio plus regenerate?
Although Perio plus regenerate is not meant as a long-term mouthwash solution, there are three situations in which its short-term use can greatly benefit your patients. These are:
after dental surgeries or other invasive procedures;
for treatment-related dry mouth; and
as additional short-term infection protection during epidemics.
How to use Perio plus regenerate:
Rinse with 10 ml undiluted for 60 seconds.
